It says in the Bible in the Book of John, Chapter 3, Verse 16 that: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." What an extraordinary claim for John to make! If it had just been an ordinary man, and not one of the disciples of Christ who made this claim about Salvation, many would have ignored this as being truth, and countless souls would have been lost. The Holy Bible is filled with God's Living Word, but out of all the words written in the Bible, it is this scripture that sums up the point that God so lovingly strived to get across to us humans. The scriptures of the Old Testament, and the writings of the Prophets who proclaim the coming of the Messiah, all teach us about the fall of mankind (sin), what God expects of His people, how we should behave (obedience) and how He would send His only Son as a sacrifice for our sins (atonement). The New Testament, also known as the Gospel, is written by the disciples of Jesus, who had first-hand knowledge of the Messiah (Jesus Christ). They speak of His miraculous birth, (He was born to the virgin Mary), His many teachings, His miracles, His crucifixion and ultimately His ressurection.

Again, going back to the Book of John, Chapter 3 and Verse 16 - IT SAYS IT ALL! It is God's covenant with us! It is God's promise to us that if we BELIEVE in His one and only Son, that because He loves us so much, we should not perish and have eternal life! Plain and simple. Sure, you will need to repent and turn away from your sins, but it is through Christ that we are able to do this. We are not strong enough on our own to become a better, more humble person, but it is through Christ and His love for us that we are able to walk down the narrow path of righteousness.

Also very important in the Book of John, Chapter 3, are verses 17-21. These scriptures clearly state that if you do not believe in Jesus Christ the only Son of God, you are already condemned. But that when you become a believer in Jesus Christ and turn your life over to Him, you step out of the darkness (evil and sin) and into the light (Jesus and Salvation).

Here is what the Bible says in John 3:17-21:

17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
