Welcome to John 3:16
A Great Place to Discover the Love of Christ!
Scripture tells us over and over again about the loving mercy and grace that God has for His people. With all that happens in the world today, and even centuries ago, those who do not know the Lord may somehow look upon God as a vengeful and merciless God. However, that isn't the case. God in all his kindness and mercy, doesn't give to us what we actually deserve - and that is punishment. Sure, you can say to yourself, "I am a good person and do good things in my life, so why should I be punished?" The answer my friend is this, EVERYONE has sin in their lives whether they realize it or not. If you have cheated on something like a test or told a "white lie", you, in God's eyes are a liar. If you have ever taken something that wasn't yours, even if it was a pen or a piece of paper from work without asking, in God's eyes you are a thief. If you have ever hated someone, again, you are a murderer. If you've lusted after someone you weren't married to, you are an adulter - and the list goes on. But you see, Jesus paid the price so that you would not have to be punished for your sins. In all of God's mercy and love for us, God does not give to us what we deserve, but what He does give to us is what He feels we need. In all His infinite wisdom, God withholds from us many of the things we ask for, simply because it is not in His plans for us (Jeremiah 29:11-13). Below are the many scriptures of the Bible that contain the words MERCY, MERCIFUL and GRACE.
